Barbados is in a unique position when it comes to receiving swell. It receives swell from the north, east and south due to its location in the Atlantic. It is the farthest island out in the Atlantic Ocean.
The south side is the mecca for beginner/ intermediate surfers and Surfer's Point leads the charge in consistency and can deliver waves as much as 360 days a year, just down the road is South Point and freights bay. Freights Bay is Bali style perfection due to being sheltered from the strong winds that can blow throughout the winter months. ("winter months" - we really don't have traditional winter here, its 32 C all year long).

The best boards usually are longboards and funboards, you may get away with shortboards on a bigger day.
Freights is 6 minutes drive from our Surfers Point Guest house, if you are not staying with us you may drive up and rent boards.

Bathsheba is the town that is the home of world famous Soup Bowl and Parlor, this break is intermediate to professional. Big north swells pump into these breaks during the December to April months. We have guides that can take you and introduce you to the breaks, its always good to know the ins and outs at potentially hazardous breaks due to the rocky reefy terrain and powerful swells.
Longboards at this side can be a disaster, soup bowl can break boards as if they were little twigs. Longboards are better at Parlor.
There are Many of good local surfers in Barbados, when traveling here you will notice that right away.
The talent pool here is very large considering the surfing population is only about 200 people and the good surfers are about 75 % of them. (Just a guesstimate -is that a word?) you get the idea.
We have many of the worlds top surfing pros coming through and staying at Surfers Point, surfers such as Russel Winter, Sam Bleakley, Elliot Dudley, Ben Skinner, John McCarthy, Ben Baird, Peter Mendia and Dylan Greaves, with top photographers John Callahan, Kristin Prisk, Steve Fitzpatrick also stopping through on trips.
